Winter Biking On My Mind

Free Winter Bike Commuting Clinic

Join Kristi Wood on October 25 from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM at REI for a free clinic on Winter Bike Commuting. We’ll discuss clothing, gear, riding techniques, and more. Come join the discussion and see how you can enjoy the benefits of bike commuting all year long!

Anchorage Outdoor Open House at REI

Stop by REI on Saturday November 5 from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM and meet representatives of your favorite outdoor groups, clubs, ski areas, and organizations dedicated to getting kids interested in the outdoors. You’ll be able to sign up for classes, get information, gain membership, and learn how you can get more involved in your community. BCA’s own John Hettinger and Kristi Wood will be there. John will be available to discuss everything the BCA Roads and Trails Committee has been up to and give you latest updates on Anchorage’s cycling infrastructure. Kristi will be on hand to discuss winter bike commuting and the League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling Program. We’ll also have an updated list of the many ways folks can volunteer with BCA to help make Anchorage more bicycle friendly.

Second Saturday Rides

Want to get out this winter and enjoy a winter group ride? Then come along for our Second Saturday Winter Rides, the second Saturday of every month starting in November. We meet at Goose Lake at 11:00 AM and ride to a nearby coffee shop, usually the Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop. We load up on delicious, freshly baked items and lovely warm beverages, then head back down the Chester Creek trail to Goose Lake. Anyone is welcome to join, especially those new to winter biking. Helmets and appropriate winter bikes are required.
