Welcoming Our First Bike Anchorage Director!

Pierce_Profile.pngBike Anchorage is excited to introduce our first Director: Pierce Schwalb!

From the start, Bike Anchorage has been powered by volunteers and is proud of the amazing accomplishments we've been a part of with our grassroots grit. There is nothing quite like the bike community. We are proud to celebrate this milestone.

Pierce first hopped on a bike in the swamplands of Central Florida, where two wheels proved to be useful dodging gators. When he wasn’t recreating alongside reptiles, he was following his passion for achieving sustainability by studying and applying techniques to help people reduce their carbon footprint.

Most recently, Pierce planned for and promoted alternative fuel vehicles in Northern California. Although a newcomer to Anchorage, he has already fallen in love with this vibrant, self-reliant city. He is excited to support and grow the engaged bicycling community that calls Anchorage home.

Please welcome Pierce to Bike Anchorage! To connect, you can find Pierce at [email protected]

How to Join in on Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day - Host a Treat Station

In Anchorage, we'll celebrate Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, May 17th. Every year businesses, organizations, and enthusiasts encourage people to get on their bikes with coffee, donuts, blueberries and more. Help us celebrate a more bicycle-friendly city. Last year we had over 50 stations--let's go big this year and beat that record! Here's what you need to know to sign up as a treat station host:
  • Anchorage Bike to Work Day is Wednesday, May 17th
  • You can host a treat station wherever you would like--we'll make sure you don't overlap with another host. You can also choose to host the station in the morning or after work.
  • Hosts provide the beverages, treats, or swag to share. Be creative!
  • To host a treat station, sign up here!
